How Tiger Woods made his daughter hate golf and why she’ll never play it again

Golf and Tiger Woods are practically synonyms after his 82 PGA Tour victories and 15 major golf championships since he debuted in august 1996. Since a very young age Tiger’s life has been strongly tied with the sport and so has his families life, including his childern Charlie and Sam.

Charlie has begun carving his path in the golf world and recently celebrated his first American Junior Golf Association title. He still has a long way to go to reach his father’s GOAT status, but at just 16 years old, he has already shown glimpses of exceptional talent.

Tiger made his daughter hate golf

According to Tiger Woods, his daughter Sam has no interest in picking up a golf club like him or Charlie because the sport carries a “negative connotation” for her.

While speaking about why Sam doesn’t play the game, Woods explained, “She has, I think, a negative connotation to the game because at that time… when she was growing up, golf took Daddy away from her,” said the 49-year-old golfer last year.

He later added: “I had to pack, and I had to leave, and I was gone for weeks – and there was a negative connotation to it. So we developed our own relationship, our own rapport that’s outside of golf. We do things that don’t involve golf. Meanwhile, my son and I, we do everything golf-related. It’s very different.”

Sam Woods may not be a golfer, but she is certainly an athlete. Nowadays, she laces up her cleats to take on the soccer field.
