How much money will the 2025 Club World Cup champion take home?

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has not only set a sporting precedent, but also an economic one. The 32 teams and the new competition format are joined by the juicy prize money. FIFA has put on the table the largest distribution of prize money in history for a club competition.

How much money can Chelsea or PSG take home?

The tournament distributes $1 billion among the participants. The maximum prize pool per team is $125 million, but both Chelsea and PSG will have to settle for $123 million, as both finalists lost one group stage match and failed to win the $2 million that the organization distributes for each victory.

In any case, in addition to the trophy, the winning team will receive $40 million, which will be added to the amount accumulated for performance in the tournament. According to the official model approved by FIFA, the breakdown of performance-related prizes is as follows:

  • Group stage: 2 million per win, 1 million per draw
  • Round of 16: 7.5 million
  • Quarter-finals: 13.125 million
  • Semifinals: 21 million
  • Runner-up: $30 million
  • Champion: 40 million additional.

In this way, after completing the different rounds and winning all their matches (except one), Chelsea and PSG are aiming to take home a jackpot of 123 million euros. The runner-up will not be far behind, as the team that loses in the final will take home 10 million less and will leave the United States with the runners-up medal and 113 million in its pocket.

This amount will have to be added to the money corresponding to the distribution of television rights. In the case of European clubs, as today’s finalists are, the competition awards between $12.81 and $38.19 million per club, a figure already guaranteed even before playing and which has therefore also been awarded to both Real Madrid and Atletico, as well as the rest of the representatives of the old continent who have played in this Club World Cup.

FIFA stressed before the ball started rolling that all revenue from the tournament will be reinvested in club football, without using its financial reserves. A $250 million solidarity program will be launched to strengthen football in all corners of the world.
