Super Bowl Sunday has become one of the biggest alcohol consumption days in the United States. According to Fintech estimates, Americans drink more than 325 million gallons of beer during the Big Game, a figure that reflects the enormous cultural dimension of the event.
This volume is equivalent to about 50 million cases of beer, making the Super Bowl the second largest beer event in the country, behind only Independence Day. On average, each partygoer consumes between four and six beers, although at larger or livelier gatherings consumption can reach up to eight beers per person.
Guacamole drives record avocado season
Less than a month before the 2026 Super Bowl, the avocado industry is gearing up for one of its strongest seasons. According to Avocados From Mexico, 2.5 billion pounds of Mexican avocados are projected to be imported during the 2025-26 season, with 280 million pounds destined for the Super Bowl alone.“This record projection is not just about volume, but about confidence in quality and in our supply chain,” said Alvaro Luque, president and CEO of Avocados from Mexico. Guacamole is once again one of the must-have foods on Super Bowl Sunday.
Artificial intelligence joins the Super Bowl experience
To boost guacamole consumption and interaction with fans, Avocados From Mexico launched Prediction Pit, an immersive AI-powered experience. The system allows fans to interact with a digital version of comedian Rob Riggle, known as the “Guac Guru,” to make game predictions and receive personalized recipes in real time.
The platform can run up to 10,000 play-by-play simulations, adjusting odds based on weather, lineups and live data, offering a dynamic experience throughout Super Bowl week.
Chicken wings and snacks dominate the table
Chicken remains one of the protagonists of the Super Bowl. In the last edition, Americans consumed around 1.4 billion chicken wings, according to WJLA. However, prices continue to rise: chicken breast is around $4.93 per pound, while wings are $4 per pound
This is in addition to the rising cost of products such as French fries, ground beef and pizza, driven by inflation, rising raw material costs and transportation.
The total spend reflects the magnitude of the event
The National Retail Federation (NRF) estimates that total spending on Super Bowl-related items will be around $19 billion, with more than 80% going to food and beverages. Although prices continue to rise, the Super Bowl maintains its place as one of the largest food and social celebrations in the United States.
