The Toronto Blue Jays are back in the 2025 World Series for the first time since 1993, and it was all made possible by George Springer’s three-run homer to turn the score around in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, in which they defeated the Seattle Mariners 4-3.
However, they are up against the National League champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who seem unbeatable this postseason with only one loss in the divisional series against the Philadelphia Phillies, as well as a sweep in the championship series against the Milwaukee Brewers
How many World Series appearances do the Toronto Blue Jays have?
The team began its MLB history in 1977, to be exact, on April 7, when they played their first game in franchise history against the Chicago White Sox, with their first victory coming by a score of 9-5. But it took many years for the Toronto organization to reach a World Series, with two appearances in the Fall Classic prior to this one in 2025:
- 1992 World Series against the Atlanta Braves
- 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies
- 2025 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers
This will be the Blue Jays’ third appearance in a World Series, and John Schneider’s team managed to rise from the ashes like a phoenix after a catastrophic 2024 campaign, finishing last in the American League East. Things changed in 2025, as they were American League leaders led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, Alejandro Kirk and Bo Bichette.
How many World Series have the Toronto Blue Jays won in their history?
The Blue Jays have made few appearances on the biggest stage in MLB, however, history backs them up with two championships and without having lost on any occasion.
Their first appearance was in 1992 when they faced the Atlanta Braves and managed to win the title in game 6 with a 4-3 victory in extra innings. The following year, 1993, they repeated the feat, but this time against the Philadelphia Phillies, where the most memorable moment was a hit by Joe Carter to give them the victory and their second World Series ring.
This will be the third World Series for the Blue Jays in their MLB history, against a Dodgers team looking for its second consecutive title, proving that they are a dominant team in Major League Baseball with their fifth appearance in nine years.
This Friday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m., the World Series opens between the Dodgers and Blue Jays at Rogers Centre with Blake Snell opening for Los Angeles and Trey Yesavage for Toronto.
