How many rings are being made for the Super Bowl 2026, and who gets one?

The Super Bowl champions’ rings are one of the most coveted items that are part of the NFL championship celebration. Each year, expensive jewelry boutiques come up with increasingly complex designs, full of diamonds and other precious stones. They also feature symbols that allude to the title won: the stadium, the score, the name of the wearer, the number of titles won, etc

They are also rings that, although they are manufactured to be lightweight, (modern rings can weigh more than a quarter of a pound), when you have them on your finger, you feel every ounce. In the case of players such as Tom Brady, who has seven more than any other player in history, it is very difficult to wear them all at the same time

How are the Super Bowl winners’ rings made?

Each year, the design becomes more and more complex and its aesthetics more striking than the previous one. In fact, the design process takes several weeks and begins even before the game. The proposals are presented the day after the game, when the jewelers “bid” to win the project. Once the winner is chosen, the design phase is detailed over the next eight weeks and then production takes between four and six weeks.

The favorite manufacturer of these pieces is the custom ring house Jostens, which is behind 38 of the 58 Super Bowl rings to date, including the first in 1967 and last year’s for the Kansas City Chiefs. Other pieces have also been designed by renowned houses Balfour and Tiffany & Co.

The final cost of the rings ranges from $30,000 to $50,000. Of this, the NFL pays between $5,000 and $7,000 for each of the first 150 rings that each championship team has made and covers the remaining cost. A full set of rings can cost more than $5 million.

In the case of the current champions’ ring, it cost $40,000 each, although the pieces had a typographical error. The only requirement set by the NFL for the design is that they include the Super Bowl logo and they are usually made of yellow or pink gold, although the >Green Bay Packers in 2010 chose a piece set in platinum.

How many Super Bowl rings are made per season?

Everyone gets a ring, but not all rings are the same. Tradition dictates that a player should be given one with his name and jersey number on it. A piece is also given to the coaching staff, executives and other team employees. Additionally, a simpler version is given to some employees, including practice squad players. In total, each year between 300 and 900 rings are produced, depending on the decision of each team

The losers also receive rings: to commemorate their conference championship, although they are not as extravagant.

Who Gets a Super Bowl Ring?

Players on the active roster are guaranteed a ring, but teams typically extend rings to a much broader group, including:

  • Coaches and coordinators
  • Team executives and owners
  • Scouts, trainers, and front-office staff

Some organizations even commission multiple versions of the ring-full diamond versions for players and simplified editions for staff-further increasing total costs.
