The Los Angeles Clippers are pursuing their first NBA championship, and for that reason, they’ve signed veteran point guard Chris Paul for the upcoming season. His leadership, experience, and playmaking abilities are expected to bolster a roster already stacked with star talent.

There’s no denying Chris Paul’s status as one of the NBA’s elite, with a résumé that includes 12 All-Star selections and a legacy of memorable performances. Now, as he returns to the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul faces the weighty challenge of leading a talented roster in pursuit of the franchise’s first-ever NBA championship.

Chris Paul’s return to the Clippers: One last dance

Paul is returning to familiar ground, a place he once called home, having played for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017, where he delivered some of the most outstanding performances of his career. Now, after 21 seasons in the NBA, the veteran point guard has announced that the upcoming season will be his last at the highest level of basketball.

At 40 years old, the veteran point guard returns to the Clippers after a season with the San Antonio Spurs, where he averaged 8.8 points per game, the lowest mark of his career. Determined to prove he still has something left in the tank, Paul is set to pursue redemption in what he has declared his final NBA season.

“I’ve been in the NBA for more than half of my life, which is a blessing. But these years you do not get back with your kids, with your family, my granny, who watches every single game that I play, every single night.” Said Chris Paul in the Jemele Hill’s Podcast, announcing his desire to end his professional career.

The 12-time All-Star joins a Clippers team gearing up for a memorable season, with their sights firmly set on reaching the NBA Finals and finally capturing the elusive championship trophy. With a stacked roster and high expectations, the Clippers enter the season as one of the league’s top contenders, dreaming of securing the first title in franchise history.

Why the Clippers are title contenders this season

The Clippers have made bold offseason moves, adding Bradley Beal, John Collins, and former NBA champion Brook Lopez. These key signings strengthen an already competitive roster. With renewed ambition, the franchise is making another serious push toward its first-ever NBA Finals appearance.

The Clippers also bring in proven veterans like Kawhi Leonard, who led the Toronto Raptors to the 2019 NBA title. His championship pedigree and leadership add depth to a roster built to contend. In addition, the team features 2018 MVP James Harden, who, like Paul, is chasing his first NBA championship and adds another layer of star power to the roster.

For the upcoming season, the Los Angeles Clippers are assembling a battle-tested roster, filled with experienced, title-winning talent. This gives Chris Paul the perfect opportunity to face his farewell season with one goal in mind: capturing the one achievement that has eluded him, an NBA championship.
