The 2026 MLB Home Run Derby takes place on Monday, July 13, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, with the contest scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
This year’s Derby will stream live on Netflix, giving one of MLB All-Star Week’s biggest events a new broadcast home.
The All-Star Game follows one night later, on Tuesday, July 14, also at Citizens Bank Park.
As per MLB.com, the Derby field is complete, with eight hitters confirmed for the 40th edition of the event.
Who is in the Home Run Derby?
The 2026 field features Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies, Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays, Jac Caglianone of the Kansas City Royals, Ben Rice of the New York Yankees, Willson Contreras of the Boston Red Sox, Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals and Munetaka Murakami of the Chicago White Sox.
Harper and Schwarber will naturally get the loudest reaction from the Philadelphia crowd.
Harper won the 2018 Home Run Derby in Washington, while Schwarber gives the home fans another elite power threat in a ballpark that should be ready for a long night of noise.
Caminero also returns after finishing runner-up to Cal Raleigh in the 2025 Derby.
The Blue Jays don’t have a hitter in the Derby field, but Toronto will still have a major All-Star Week presence through Ernie Clement, the AL’s leading vote-getter and starting second baseman.
What are the Derby rules?
The 2026 event has moved away from the clock-based format.
Hitters will now receive a set number of swings: 20 in the first round, then 15 in the semifinals and final.
If a player homers on his final allowed swing, he can keep swinging until he fails to hit another home run.
There is no bonus round and no first-round bracket. The top four hitters from Round 1 advance, with semifinal matchups seeded by first-round totals.
That should make the contest easier to follow, with every swing carrying more obvious weight.
