Another exhibition by Leo Messi and there are now… Lionel scored a brace in Inter Miami’s (1-2) win over the New England Revolution (Boston). A historic double for several reasons.
Messi is the first player in MLS history to score four consecutive braces. He has done so against New England (1-2); Montreal (1-4); Columbus Crew (5-1); and Montreal again (4-2).
Miami are fifth in the Eastern Conference, with three fewer games than the leaders. Messi, for his part, has scored at least one goal in his last five games, to accumulate 14 in MLS, two behind top scorerSam Surridge (Nashville, with 16). He also has seven assists in 15 regular season games.
With these numbers, the Argentine star already far exceeds the records of Pele. Messi already has more games than those played by the star in his history in MLS (65 for Leo by 64 for Pele).
The numbers are very favorable to Messi, who has 54 goals and 24 assists compared to Pele’s 37 goals and 18 assists. A historic Messi… again.
