This is how the New York Mets‘ new young pitcher fared on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Carlos Mendoza‘s youth plan in his pitching rotation.

That was his MLB debut against the Cincinnati Reds, one of the Mets’ rivals in the fight for one of the three playoff spots in the 2025 Major League Baseball playoffs via the Wild Card.

New York Mets prospect Brandon Sproat made his MLB debut, pitching a no-hitter until the bottom of the sixth inning. He pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs, three hits and four walks with seven strikeouts

He sometimes struggled to control his 90-plus mph fastball, but he shone with his curveball, which generated multiple swings and misses and left some hitters cold with two strikes. He threw 88 pitches.

The third-highest ranked starting pitcher prospect to be promoted by the New York Mets

Brandon Sproat is the third-highest ranked starting pitching prospect to be called up by the New York Mets in 2025, joining fellow right-handers Nolan McLean (No. 2 overall) and Jonah Tong (No. 4).
