It has been almost three years since Eden Hazard, after an abrupt spell at Real Madrid marked by injuries, decided to end his career.

A time that the Belgian playmaker has taken advantage of to review in an entertaining interview with The Guardian. “My life is quite simple. I’m a father of five children. Right now I’m more of a taxi driver than a footballer, but that’s OK,” said the former Lille and Chelsea player, who continues to live in Madrid: “I made the decision for the family, the kids, the weather and the food”.“Life goes by very fast, especially in football. Yesterday I was 19 years old and today I am 35. You have to enjoy it, not only in football, but in everything,” Hazard reflects.

Hazard also leaves an anecdote to remember when Jose Mourinho was Chelsea manager: “I went to Lille to watch a game and lost my passport on the way back. I was late and missed training. In the next game he took me out of the team and said it was my fault”.

“To play with my brother and to captain my country was incredible”

However, he highlights another moment, with Belgium: “The 2018 World Cup was incredible. I had the opportunity to play with my brother. To be the captain of my country was something incredible. We felt that Belgium was incredible in those years. Although we didn’t win, nowadays they say that we were a better team than France and that makes me proud”.
