Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George has been suspended for 25 games without pay for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, the league announced Saturday
George’s suspension will begin with tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

“In recent years, I have talked about the importance of mental health, and in seeking treatment for a personal issue, I made the mistake of taking an inappropriate medication,” George told ESPN’s Shams Charania. “I take full responsibility for my actions and apologize to the Sixers organization, my teammates and the Philadelphia fans for my poor decision during this process.”

The veteran guard is averaging 16 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 27 games for the Sixers this season.
