Hall of Famer bursts Bills Mafia dreams: Buffalo isn’t a Super Bowl team

The Buffalo Bills’ near-heroic comeback to beat the New England Patriots 35-31 didn’t impress everyone. While fans were celebrating, even dreaming of winning Super Bowl LX, analysts like Cris Carter dashed those dreams, pointing to the team’s serious flaws.

After trailing 21-0 midway through the second quarter and finishing the first half down 24-7, Josh Allen orchestrated an epic comeback. And they didn’t just win the game; they revived their chances of winning the AFC East.

The feat ignited the dreams of fans, who want to see their team win its first Super Bowl. However, according to Carter, that’s not going to happen. At least not this year.

“Defenseville, they’re not a championship team,” Carter began, speaking on the Up & Adams podcast. “They don’t have a No. 1 receiver. So we think they’re going to be able to run the ball, where Josh Allen’s ad-libs are going to be able to make it happen?” That was just the beginning.

Carter crushed the Bills Mafia’s dreams

According to the former Minnesota Vikings star, the Bills have declined in recent seasons. “This is the worst Buffalo team over the last three years,” Carter declared.

“And just because some premier quarterbacks are out of the playoffs doesn’t mean Super Bowl,” the former receiver cautioned, referring to stars like Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, who have already missed the postseason.

“We keep adding one plus one equals two. But sometimes, in the NFL, it doesn’t. Sometimes, one plus one equals zero,” the Hall of Famer warned, adding that the team is completely dependent on Allen.

“They don’t have a great unit. They have a great player, but they don’t have a great unit,” he emphasized. “Their special teams aren’t great, their offense isn’t a great unit, their defense isn’t a great unit,” Carter elaborated.

“So, how can they get the right matchups in the playoffs? And they’re going to have to do that on the road,” he concluded.

The Bills are still a year away from being champions

However, all is not lost. The former Vikings star believes that, by adding the right pieces, this team could win Super Bowl LXI.

“Let’s add some pieces. Keon Coleman didn’t pan out. You still need a top-flight receiver. All the injuries they’ve had on the defense. Those are real things,”Carter cautioned.

He admitted that he likes the talent of Allen and James Cook, “But as far as winning a Super Bowl… Can they go to the palyoffs? Are they a tough out? Yes. But are they going to win the Super Bowl? No.”

Sorry, Bills Mafia.
