The relationship between Tiger Woods and Greg Norman has always been one of gossip. If one of them says something about TGL, LIV Golf or the PGA Tour, the other one comes up with something.
They’ve had a bad relationship for a long time. It’s the same with Rory McIlroy, who also has issues with Greg Norman and LIV Golf. McIlroy has made it very clear that he doesn’t like the PIF League.
And look, just recently his comments about his friend Tom McKibbin possibly jumping ship make his stance clear.
The reality is that this is all happening because of a clash of interests that has been going on since Saudi Arabia came into golf, and even though they have improved the relationship, they have not yet achieved the chemistry that some people would like to see.
The war continues
In an interview with GolfDigest, Greg Norman expressed his displeasure with TGL because of its association with Woods and McIlroy. He claims he hasn’t seen TGL and cites personal criticism from some players. He maintains a neutral stance, suggesting that exposure to golf in various forms is beneficial.
“Simulator golf is simulator golf. We had putt-putt and all the miniature golf courses we built around the world. I think innovation is a wonderful thing,” he said.
He continued to dodge Tiger Woods and McIlroy when asked in the same interview, “I’m not going to diminish that. I wish them all the best and success because it’s the market, right? They’re going to bring people into the game of golf.
Will there be a reaction to his comments?
Tiger Woods very rarely gets into controversy, he is very serious when dealing with controversial issues and is not one to speak publicly about it, a response to Greg would surprise more than one.
Greg Norman has been attacked many times, but Woods’ indirect attack during TGL’s debut was especially painful for him as a former commissioner of LIV Golf.
Woods hosted the Saudi Arabian leader at the SoFi Center, and while LIV Golf’s presence didn’t bother him, Norman’s did, hurting his pride, and it definitely looks like this battle between them is just getting started.
On the other hand, Rory McIlroy gave Norman a bit of a jolt with his words on the arrival of O’Neil as LIV Commissioner.
The Irishman did not touch his heart, pointing out that the addition of O’Neil is good because he has more experience and the credentials to lead an ambitious project.
