The Indiana Fever’s crushing 108-44 victory over the Brazilian National Team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena left much more than just a game.
Caitlin Clark‘s return to the court is something to look forward to. In her return to her former home at Iowa Clark hit an 11-meter shot that reminded fans of her iconic shot against Michigan last year and stripped Kelsey Plum of the all-time NCAA women’s basketball scoring record.
With 16 total points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, Caitlin shined and took all the plaudits. And this did not go unnoticed by a former Iowan.
George Kittle’s wife Claire also played varsity basketball at Iowa and it was there that she met the San Francisco 49ers tight end, during his freshman year, in 2012.
Although Claire was not present at the game, videos of Clark and his exploits took social media by storm. On her Instagram stories, she shared one of them and commented, “I was traveling when this was happening but need to take a moment to acknowledge yet again the absolute legend @caitlinclark22 is. How freaking cool is this.”
The video was of none other than her 11-meter shot, which left more than one fan stunned, just like Claire.
Claire’s sporting past
As the third-leading scorer in Wahlert Catholic High School history, she averaged 1.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game during her time at the University of Iowa.
Unfortunately, after four years, her recurring knee injury ended her career in her senior year, though she has no regrets about it.
“Without having such bad knees, I know I would have accomplished more on the basketball court, but thanks to the hardships that were imposed on me, I am the strongest person I know. The hard times make the peaks that much sweeter,” he wrote on his blog, ‘Letty Set Go,’ in 2017.
The future for George Kittle
The tight end has again renewed his extension contract for $76.4 million, including $40 million in guaranteed money. In this way, he will remain four more years with the Ninners, a team to which he has belonged since he was selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Thus, the six-time Pro Bowl selection begins his ninth season wearing the colors of San Francisco and hopes to play one more to enter the prestigious 10-year club of the 49ers, which is only accessed by those who have played ten consecutive seasons for the team.
In addition, he is preparing for the Tight End University, which will be held from June 23 to 27 and will feature great figures such as Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen.
