Geno Smith has mixed feelings about Shedeur Sanders but expects the worst in his first NFL start

This weekend, all eyes will once again be on Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, a player who continues to generate huge expectations and who now appears poised to make his first NFL start. Facing him will be a tough opponent in a Seattle Seahawks team whose situation isn’t quite as desperate, led on offense by veteran Geno Smith.

And it was none other than Pete Carroll’s QB1 who spoke about Coach Prime’s son, who is getting a forced opportunity after Dillon Gabriel concussion protocol.

Tough luck for Shedeur Sanders

It will be a direct showdown between these two quarterbacks, with the added twist that Smith has known Shedeur Sanders for a long time – though unfortunately for the Browns rookie, they’re reuniting in a game where losing is not an option.

“Yeah, man. I’m happy for my guy, you know. S2 [Shedeur Sanders] is someone I’ve been talking to for a long time and I’m just happy to see him getting his shot. But unfortunately, it’s against us – still happy to see him get a shot,” Geno Smith said at a press conference.

“I mean, for a long time – probably since he was in high school,” he admitted when asked how long he’s known the young Cleveland Browns QB.

This game against the Raiders will mark Sanders’ second appearance in the NFL, coming after a narrative emerged claiming that head coach Kevin Stefanski wanted to stunt the player’s career. With Dillon Gabriel sidelined by concussion protocol and unable to remain the starter, this is Shedeur Sanders’ chance to prove himself at the highest level.
