Inter Miami was thrashed by the Seattle Sounders in the final of the Leagues Cup. The match was very intense, but the Washington team was far superior and won three to nil, earning the right to lift the cup and be the best in the competition. However, everything was marred by post-match violence, where players such as Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets were involved in unfortunate fights with their rivals.

The moment that went most viral was Luis Suarez’s dispute with Gene Ramirez, a Seattle Sounders worker who argued with the Uruguayan and received a spit from the player. The striker’s lack of control was very great and he earned the repudiation of public opinion and fans.

Gene Ramirez’s response to Suarez’s spit

The moment of the discussion with Luis Suarez went so viral that the Seattle Sounders worker was waited by several journalists at the exit of the stadium to be consulted about the episode.

With great tranquility, Ramirez took the matter with grace and responded that “I expected him to bite me”, generating laughter in the mixed zone and alluding to Suarez’s episode at the 2014 World Cup, where he was suspended for biting an opponent.

The possible sanction for Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez’s action can be classified as unsportsmanlike and under the rules of the Leagues Cup, he could receive a sanction of between one and three matches without being able to play.

Luis Suarez has had several controversial episodes in his career and now he has added one more. It seems that his experience could make him calmer, but when it comes to losing a final, anything can happen.
