It was said of Gareth Bale that if he had liked football as much as he liked golf, he would have been off the charts. After his days as a footballer, the Welshman continues to demonstrate wherever he is invited that he has an amazing quality with the clubs, even beyond what is expected of a handicap 0 like him.

In the ICON Series in Thailand, a trio of promotional tournaments played by footballers as if it were a Ryder Cup (England against the Rest of the World), he allowed himself the luxury of hitting a par 4 green with the driver in one stroke, over the water, and from 286 meters. This is something that is rarely seen outside of professional tournaments or young amateurs who dream of reaching that status one day.

It was the icing on the cake on a day in which the former Real Madrid striker, paired with Gabriel Batistuta, won by two in the fourball against John Terry and Teddy Sheringham, which balanced the morning that was victorious for England by 4.5-3.5. In the afternoon, in the greensome -alternate shots with two tee shots- he lost by 3 up with his compatriot Aaron Ramsey as a partner against Jimmy Bullard (handicap 0) and Andrew Cole. England leads 8.5 to 7.5.
