The young Mexican baseball player Roberto Saucedo Jr., just 17 years old, signed with the MLB champion team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, as one of 22 young international prospects who will seek to reach the dream of playing in the major leagues.
Roberto plays as a catcher and was trained in his early years in this sport with the Sultanes de Monterrey in the Mexican Baseball League.
MLB international signing period begins
This past January 15 marked the beginning of the international signing period for MLB, in which the 30 Major League franchises seek to acquire the best international talent available beyond the United States.

The 17-year-old, who has been under the spotlight since he was just 12, was accompanied by Juvenal Soto, a scout for the Dodgers; Miguel Flores, sporting director of the Sultanes de Monterrey; and Sotero Torres, head of youth development at the Monterrey club, for the moment when Roberto became a Dodgers player, culminating years of effort.

With this signing, Roberto Saucedo Jr. joins the select list of Mexicans who are looking to make their mark in the winningest organization in the National League West. The Mexican will seek to make history, just as Fernando Valenzuela did with the Los Angeles team, who is today one of the greatest exponents of baseball worldwide.
