Freddie Freeman places Shohei Ohtani as the future GOAT of baseball and forgets about Babe Ruth and company

Before the 2025 MLB All-Star Game began, the stars took part in media sessions. It was in one of these that Freddie Freeman, first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was asked who he considers to be the GOAT of baseball and, without hesitation, he forgot about legends such as Babe Ruth and replied that his own teammate, Japanese star Shohei Ohtani, is the greatest of all time.

With the MLB All-Star Game scheduled for Tuesday night at Truist Park in Atlanta, the Los Angeles Dodgers were well represented. Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani and Will Smith will start for the National League, while Mookie Betts and Clayton Kershaw were selected as reserves.

This is what Freddie Freeman said about Shohei Ohtani

“The best of all time? Well, he’s on his way,” Freeman said. “Look at him. What did he throw two days ago? He’s throwing 100 mph. He’s hitting balls into McCovey Cove. He’s doing things that have never been seen before. So he’ll probably be the best of all time.”

Ohtani began his MLB career relatively late, debuting with the Los Angeles Angels in 2018, around the age of 24, after coming over from Japan. Since then, he has become one of the most electrifying players in baseball: a three-time MVP, World Series champion and one of the most dominant pitchers.

Ohtani returned to the mound with the Los Angeles Dodgers

At the end of last June, Shohei Ohtani pitched a no-hit inning on Sunday in his second start on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers, striking out two and allowing only one baserunner due to an error by Mookie Betts.

Ohtani made 18 pitches against the Washington Nationals at Chavez Ravine, recording 12 strikes with one wild pitch. After leadoff hitter CJ Abrams was retired on a grounder, Betts dropped a fly ball by James Wood in the sun.
