Francisco Lindor ends his offensive drought with a hit in Mets vs. Angels

On Wednesday, July 23, the New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 6-3. One of the standout players was Francisco Lindor, who hit a run-scoring single to put his team ahead in the game; the Puerto Rican shortstop saved himself from one of the worst offensive droughts on record

Pete Alonso was also crucial to the Mets’ victory after unleashing his power with a home run that left the Angels without a response. He and Lindor combined for five RBIs, securing New York’s victory and completing a three-game sweep at Citi Field.

Francisco Lindor’s 31 at-bat hitless streak

Lindor, who had been in an unprecedented offensive drought with 31 hitless at-bats, finally broke the spell with an RBI single in the third inning. Not content with that, he repeated the feat in the fourth, consolidating the Mets’ lead. Had it not been for his hit on Wednesday against the Angels, the Puerto Rican would have extended the negative streak.

Last Tuesday, Lindor went 0-for-4 against the Los Angeles Angels, extending his drought. Despite his efforts, the ball just hasn’t wanted to fall in anyone’s territory. However, the Puerto Rican continued to show his defensive ability, giving away defensive gems that keep the Mets in games.

Mets rumors: Luis Severino would leave Oakland for New York

It was about three weeks ago when the rumor about Luis Severino joining the Mets resurfaced. After a season of ups and downs with the Oakland Athletics, the Dominican pitcher could be in the sights of the Big Apple team, who are desperately looking to strengthen their rotation.

The Mets find themselves in this situation because of Griffin Canning’s injury. Severino has been inconsistent, shining on the road but struggling at home. At Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park, he is 0-7 with a 6.79 ERA, while on the road he has been almost untouchable, with a 2-1 record and a 2.27 ERA.
