A new transfer window is beginning and one of the big questions is where Cristiano Ronaldo will play next season. The Portuguese star finished his contract with Al-Nassr F.C. and is now looking for a new direction in his career. Despite being 40 years old, the goalscorer feels more alive than ever and will continue to look for new challenges to expand his numbers and, why not, reach the 2026 World Cup with Portugal.
While CR7’s future is uncertain, the striker continues to shine and win titles, as he recently was crowned UEFA Nations League champion with Portugal after beating Spain in the final on penalties after a 2-2 draw, where Cristiano scored a goal and also had to leave injured.
A few days ago, Cristiano Ronaldo confessed that he has had offers to play in the Club World Cup, where teams are allowed to sign players only for that competition. However, despite offers from clubs such as River Plate, it seems that the Portuguese will not play in this tournament, but he is looking for a team to continue scoring goals
Share a team with Lionel Messi
One of the options that Cristiano Ronaldo is considering is playing in MLS. Several teams have asked about him and he was even asked at a press conference if he would like to play alongside Lionel Messi, to which Ronaldo explained that anything can happen and he is open to anything.
If not at Inter Miami, it could be at another club, but there are already soccer personalities who are crying out for it. This is the case of the world champion with France, Marcell Desailly, who nominated CR7 to MLS.
“I would like to see Cristiano Ronaldo in America, because of the 2026 World Cup. Look at the World Cup in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia decided to use sports like tennis, golf and now football. We took the best players to Saudi Arabia, which took football to Asia, India, China, the Philippines, Vietnam and more,” explained the Frenchman.
Messi has brought energy, but Cristiano could generate real interest from sponsors
In addition, Desailly commented that Cristiano Ronaldo can give more things than Messi to MLS. “I would love to see Cristiano in America for the same reasons: he will bring the culture of football, which they do not yet have. Messi has brought energy, but Cristiano could generate a real interest from sponsors, big brands that do not yet sponsor football.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s numbers at Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Saudi Arabia in January 2023 and has not stopped scoring goals for Al-Nassr. The Portuguese played 111 games and scored 99 goals, very surprising figures, especially because of his advanced age and the fact that he had to adapt to a league very different from those in Europe.
The Portuguese striker left a very good impression and at 40 years of age he hopes to continue scoring goals around the world. Will it be in MLS? Only Cristiano knows for now.
