It was reported this Monday, June 23, that a former Warriors star revealed a tattoo he has of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, which he kept secret for years. Situations like these are often curious, moments in which you get to see the more human side of professional athletes.

Despite his explosive talent and spectacular performance on the court, the player with the aforementioned tattoo never let the world see his full identity. Behind the stats and highlights, lurked a silent obsession, and it wasn’t with his own legacy, but with that of another basketball giant: “The Black Mamba”.

Who is the former Warriors player with a Kobe Bryant tattoo?

The name being talked about is Gilbert Arenas, who carved out a prolific career (three-time All-Star, All-NBA honors, and a 60-point masterpiece at Staples Center). He recently made a big revelation about his love and how closely he followed Kobe’s life, not only as a competitor, but as a fan.

The former Washington Wizards player finally let his guard down on The Dan Patrick Show, admitting to having a little-known tattoo: Bryant’s famous number 24 inked on his leg. “I got 24 after he won the championship by himself,” Arenas revealed, referring to Bryant’s 2009 triumph without Shaquille O’Neal.

The causes of death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter

A basketball icon, his 13-year-old daughter, young basketball players who shared a passion for the game, and their families were in a helicopter that crashed into a hillside on January 26, 2020, on a foggy morning northwest of Los Angeles. All nine occupants of the helicopter died at the scene.

The group, who bonded through sports, was headed to a girls’ basketball tournament at the Mamba Sports Academy in Newbury Park. The Sikorsky S-76B departed John Wayne Airport in Orange County shortly after 9:00 a.m., then made a U-turn in the Calabasas area, climbed, and made a steep descent before crashing into a hillside.
