Former NBA All-Star drops steroid allegation about LeBron James… then takes it back?

When Jeff Teague talks hoops, people listen. The former NBA All-Star and champion has earned that right. But when he casually mentionedLeBron James and steroidsin the same sentence during a recent podcast appearance, the internet lit up-and not in a good way.

Teague appeared on the Club 520 Podcast and threw out an eyebrow-raising story: that during LeBron’s Miami Heat days, he supposedly sat out with a fake injury when the NBA started testing for HGH.“He said his back was hurting and he sat out for three weeks,”Teague claimed. “Then came back skinny.”

The comment was delivered with a smile, and Teague made sure to use the word “allegedly.”Still, it didn’t take long for the clip to go viral-and for the backlash to begin.

Pressure from Klutch? Teague Hints at Fallout Behind the Scenes

After the clip gained traction, Teague quickly backpedaled. He told listeners the remark was taken out of context and meant as a joke. “We were literally giving LeBron praise for how dominant he was,” he said. But then he added something curious: “I will never get another Klutch opportunity because y’all take everything out of context.”

That mention of Klutch Sports–LeBron’s agency run by Rich Paul-sparked speculation that Teague had been pressured behind the scenes. No official statements have been released, but the timing of his walk-back was enough to raise a few eyebrows.

LeBron hasn’t responded publicly, and there’s no indication the NBA is investigating. Throughout his 21-year career, James has never failed a drug test and has consistently dismissed PED rumors. As he told Sports Illustrated in 2016, “I’ve never taken anything that would jeopardize my name.”

Still, the viral moment has reignited an old debate. Whether it was a slip of the tongue or a joke gone wrong, Teague’s comments show just how fast things can spiral when you mention steroids and one of the greatest players of all time in the same breath.
