Former linebacker Adarius Taylor left son, 6, in his car to meet ‘prostitute’

Former NFL linebacker Adarius Taylor was arrested last week in Polk County, Florida, after authorities say the ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneers player allegedly left his six-year-old son alone in a car while attempting to meet a woman he believed was offering escort services.

The woman was actually an undercover police officer, part of a sting operation targeting solicitation.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on May 8. Taylor – a responded to a fake online ad promising escort services for cash and drove to a location with his young son.

He left the child unattended in the vehicle before entering what appeared to be a hotel room, where he met the undercover deputy.

Video footage captured by police appears to show Taylor allegedly speaking with the officer about sexual activity before quickly leaving the area. He was arrested moments later on charges of soliciting prostitution and related offenses.

Sheriff condemns child neglect amid serious medical concerns

The situation worsened when deputies found Taylor’s son alone in the car. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd strongly condemned Taylor’s actions, especially given the child’s medical needs.

“This man should not have come here in the first place, but to leave that child alone? That’s unacceptable,” said Sheriff Judd.

“The child has significant medical conditions, and leaving him unattended was neglectful and dangerous.”

The sheriff confirmed that the boy was safely picked up by his mother and is currently doing well. Child protective services are involved to ensure the child’s continued safety.

Taylor, who has not made a public statement, faces charges of child neglect along with solicitation. His arraignment is scheduled for June 10.

This case highlights the serious consequences of endangering a child’s welfare, particularly when combined with illegal activities. Authorities continue to investigate the matter.

Who is Adarius Taylor? An NFL journeyman

Despite not being selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, Taylor was signed by the Carolina Panthers as a free agent, starting a journey that would see him bounce between teams and overcome setbacks.

Taylor’s early NFL career was marked by special teams contributions and depth roles. He found a more consistent opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where his career began to gain momentum.

By 2018, he had earned a more significant role on Tampa Bay’s defense, starting several games and finishing that season with 60 tackles, a sack, and an interception-his best statistical performance in the league.

In 2019, Taylor signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, though his time with the team was short-lived. He was released after just one season. He returned to the Panthers in 2020 but dealt with injuries that limited his on-field time.

Throughout his NFL career, Taylor played in over 80 games and recorded more than 140 total tackles. He was known for his work ethic, versatility, and reliability, often stepping into starting roles when called upon.
