Former NFL linebacker Bryan Braman, who spent seven seasons in the league playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans, is currently battling a potentially life-threatening form of cancer. This was revealed through a GoFundMe campaign created in his name by William Jones.

Braman, who is just 37 years old, has undergone multiple surgeries while receiving treatment for his illness in Seattle. The high cost of his care has caused serious financial strain for him and his family. Braman hails from Spokane.

He is required to have a 24-hour caregiver, but his insurance doesn’t pay for housing for this program,” “He has no home currently as he has had to pay out of pocket for much of his treatment, and even sold his last vehicle to raise the money for the motel [for] this week.

Jones’ first GoFundMe update in February read.

The fundraising continues

The campaign to support the former Eagles and Texans player has so far raised $65,000. One of the major contributors helping him continue his treatment was his former teammate in Houston, JJ Watt, who donated $10,000.

However, Watt wasn’t the only former teammate to stand in solidarity with him. Chris Long, Duane Brown, Brian Cushing, Brent Celek, and Rasul Douglas, among others, have also contributed to their former colleague’s cause.

A treatment they hope will be effective for Braman’s health

Braman is currently undergoing CAR T-cell therapy, which the American Cancer Society describes as “a way to get immune cells called T cells (a type of white blood cell) to fight cancer by changing them in the lab so they can find and destroy cancer cells.”

His cells did re-infuse themselves, and did in fact start reproducing within his bone marrow,” “At first the mass did start to shrink, but then the cancer started fighting back.

Jones wrote.

Since beginning chemotherapy, Braman has struggled to recover from the surgical procedures he has undergone, largely due to his weakened immune system and the toll the treatments have taken on his overall health.

Despite these serious health challenges, Bryan Bramanremains determined not to give up or surrender.
