Floyd Mayweather has not ruled out returning to the ring as a professional… and putting his perfect professional record on the line

Floyd Mayweather has never been shy about reminding the world of his perfect 50-0 record.

Now, at age 48, the Hall of Famer isn’t completely ruling out the possibility of stepping back into the professional boxing ring, even if it means risking that spotless resume.

Appearing on the TMZ Sports TV show, Mayweather was asked whether he would consider a sanctioned fight rather than just exhibitions. His answer left the door cracked open.

“There’s been talks. There’s been talks. It’s possible,” he said.

A career that hasn’t really ended

Since defeating Conor McGregor in August 2017 to notch his 50th career victory, Mayweather has resisted the urge to officially retire.

Instead, he’s stayed visible through high-profile exhibitions, including bouts against YouTuber Logan Paul and John Gotti III.

Those matchups kept him in the spotlight without threatening his unblemished professional record. Still, speculation has persisted about whether “Money” might one day take on a sanctioned fight again.

His latest comments suggest he hasn’t dismissed the idea.

Focus on Tyson clash

In the near term, Mayweather is locked in on an exhibition that is already generating buzz: his upcoming showdown with Mike Tyson.

Billed as “Legend vs. Legend,” the fight is scheduled for 2026, though details are still being finalized. “I’m not really training right now. The fight is in 2026. We’re still ironing out everything,” Mayweather said.

“But I’m pretty sure it’s going to be exciting for the people and the fans.” True to form, Mayweather emphasized that his return to the spotlight, whether in exhibitions or otherwise, is about entertainment.

“I just want to give the fans what they want to see. Excitement. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be an exciting event and people from all around the world are gonna enjoy it.”

For Mayweather, the Tyson fight offers another chance to showcase his enduring star power and global appeal.

Whether it eventually leads to an official return to professional competition remains to be seen, but his willingness to entertain the possibility ensures speculation will continue.
