The readers of MARCA.com have had their say on the crisis at Real Madrid, the sacking of Xabi Alonso and who is to blame for the club’s sporting situation

Several conclusions can be drawn from the results of the MARCA.com macro-survey, which received more than 537,000 votes in total. The scrutiny shows that the fans clearly blame Florentino Perez and the players and exonerate Xabi Alonso for the poor situation.

It is also clear what internet users think about Arbeloa, with the vast majority considering that he does not have the level or experience to manage Real Madrid’s first team

Real Madrid fans would keep Xabi Alonso

The first question of the macro-survey was “What do you think about Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso parting ways?” The readers of MARCA.com are clear: 79% consider the decision to be very bad and 21% very good. It seems that the Los Blancos fans wanted to continue with the Basque coach at the helm.

Voters in MARCA’s macro-survey also showed their disagreement with the timing of Real Madrid’s decision to dispense with Xabi Alonso. 80%, more than 72,000 votes, believe that it is a bad time to change coach compared to only 20%, more than 18,000 votes, who believe that it was the right time to change ‘commander’.

It is clear from the survey that the fans were with Xabi Alonso. In the ratings of the now former Real Madrid coach, 78% rated him between pass and outstanding, while only 22% failed him. 47% of the fans would give the coach a pass, 25% a good and 6% an outstanding.

Perhaps the question in which Xabi Alonso comes out best, and Florentino and the players worst, is the following: “Who is to blame for Real Madrid’s current situation?” 48% of those surveyed believe that the president is to blame, 46% believe that the players are to blame and only 6% point to Xabi Alonso.

They don’t believe in Arbeloa and point to Florentino as the culprit

Without having yet put on the first team’s tracksuit, Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso’s replacement, will have to work hard to win over the Real Madrid fans. The result of the question “is Arbeloa the right solution?” is overwhelming. 76%, more than 116,000 votes, believe that he lacks experience and quality compared to 24%, almost 36,000 votes, who do give him a vote of confidence. The target of the fans is Florentino Perez and his decisions in the ‘Xabi Alonso crisis’ are also evident in the results of how the fans believe the president has handled everything related to the coach. A total of 90% believe that Florentino has done badly and that he is to blame for poor planning and not supporting his coach. Only 10% believe that he has done well and that a good president must know how to make painful decisions.
