Indiana Fever is two wins away from qualifying for the WNBA Playoff Finals after the Las Vegas Aces took Game 3 victory (72-84) to put the series in their favor at 2-1.

However, the Fever’s Game 3 win over the Atlanta Dream has once again sparked controversy after a post by Chloe Bibby.

Bibby apologizes for her post

During Game 3 against Dreams last Tuesday, Sep 16, Odyssey Sims, appeared to injure her shoulder. This prompted a reaction from Indiana who became concerned about her and came to her defense.

Although they could not approach the 33-year-old point guard, the Fever’s injured players, Sophie Cunningham, Caitlin Clark and Chloe Bibby, wanted to know how their teammate was doing, but a police officer stopped them and prevented them from continuing on their way.

This sequence was broadcasted by ESPN, something that generated all kinds of comments, but what stood out among all of them was an image created with AI that portrayed Clark, Cunningham and Bibby with the police officer.

Chloe shared on her official Instagram account this illustration on September 27 along with other photos of the team and wrote: “Bench MOB things“, next to a fire heart emoji and another one of some hands forming a heart.

However, this image generated several comments against it after opening the debate on the value and ethics of AI-generated art versus that created by a human artist and for having racial connotations.

Following comments on the matter, Bibby decided to remove this photo from her post and shared on her Instagram stories a sincere apology, taking full responsibility and promising to educate herself on the subject:

“Really sorry if I offended anyone with my post. That’s not who I am and I need to do a better job at understanding the racial undertones and issues within this country,” Chloe wrote and then added: “No excuse I need to educate myself in this area and I will.“

Meanwhile, Fever is preparing to get an important victory during Game 4, which will take place this Sunday, September 28 at the home of Indiana. And they will have to do it without Damiris Dantas, Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, Caitlin Clark and Chloe Bibby. Dantas, who remains out with concussion protocol, is the only one of them with a chance of returning to the game.

Fever knows that a loss at the hands of the Aces automatically eliminates them from the Playoffs, so they will try to force a fifth game, which, if successful, would be played on Tuesday 30 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.
