After an intense and eventful season, Indiana Fever shared some of the team’s highlights on the court with its 976,000 followers on Instagram.
However, one of them caught the attention, not only because of Aliyah Boston’s defense against Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky, but also because of the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year’s comment after this play.
Boston sends a powerful message in one word
In the video shared by the Fever, Boston blocks Sky’s Elizabeth Williams and stops Angel Reese with two more blocks in the first game of the season, where the Fever beat the Sky 93-58 and Aliyah finished with 5 blocks in total, 19 points, and 13 rebounds.
“BLOCKston always protecting the rim. Take a look at Aliyah Boston’s best defensive plays this season,” the team wrote in the video description.
For Indiana fans, the post did not go unnoticed, and they commented: “Best center in the league,” said one of them, “Yes, AB!!!” commented another, “Favorite player,” wrote a third fan.
However, Aliyah herself did not let this video go unnoticed and shared it on her Instagram stories, adding a single word: “Swag.”
The truth is that Boston’s defense was key this season for Indiana, where the team suffered five losses, including Caitlin Clark, who only played 13 games before retiring due to a groin strain, and Sophie Cunningham, who suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in her right knee in August.
Rounding out the list are Chloe Bibby (left knee injury), Sydney Colson (torn anterior cruciate ligament), and Aari McDonald (fractured right foot).
Meanwhile, AB was one of the players who defended Feven in the playoffs, reaching the semifinals where they were eliminated by the Las Vegas Aces. In 2026, Boston will continue with the team as she is one of three players with CC and Makayla Timpson who have contracts.
