Skyy Moore is hanging around and not being fruit. The Kansas City Chiefs don’t know what to do with him. This is more of a disadvantage, making him a hidden treasure for fantasy football.
This wide receiver doesn’t even have a spot on the 53-man roster, but if he passes the camp litmus test, his value as a wire pick-up will explode during the season.
Moore on the verge of being cut… but the Chiefs think
Skyy Moore is only 24 years old and is in the final year of his rookie contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has little production, just 494 yards and one touchdown in three seasons.
He comes off a campaign without receptions, but his contract is cheap and that keeps him alive on the roster, for now.
“I don’t think Moore will make the 53-man roster this year. The competition is on another level. He would need an epic camp and a couple of injuries to sneak in.”
With all that said, there is an advantage… Andy Reid and his team know him well. The team has invested time, money, repetitions and patience.
In recent interviews, Reid made it clear that the focus is on bolstering the offensive line, but he has not completely ruled out his role receivers. And it’s precisely there that Moore could survive.
He would be a WR5 or even on the practice squad, with the possibility of being promoted in case of injuries or tactical necessity.
In the perennial Super Bowl favorite, any player who clicks with Pat Mahomes adds up and becomes interesting. If Moore makes the roster, he could become one of those players that no one drafts.
Kansas City has talent, but also questions
The competition is real:
- Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown lead the group of receivers
- Travis Kelce remains the anchor of the short pass
- Noah Gray had his best season. Mahomes is not short of options.
- Even so, recent injuries have made it clear that the Chiefs need depth.
- Rice comes from losing much of last season
- Worthy had good numbers as a rookie, but still needs to establish himself
- Brown only had two receptions in the Super Bowl. And behind them, the rotation remains open.
That’s why Moore could be worth stashing in deep leagues or as a silent gamble for future weeks. The key is to make the roster and stay healthy.
All it would take is an injury to either of them for him to move up to WR3 on the team with Mahomes as quarterback. That, in fantasy, can change weeks.
Skyy Moore is not a pick to rely on from Week 1. But if he makes the cut and stays in the rotation, he could be a name that explodes at some point in the schedule.
