The woman dubbed “Phillies Karen” has quickly sparked a wave of outrage on social media after she stole Harrison Bader’s home run ball from a father and his son, celebrating the child’s birthday.

Since the incident, fans have taken to social media to try to identify the woman. After thousands of posts online, she was identified as Cheryl Richardson-Wagner, and rumors quickly spread that she had been fired from her job.

Richardson-Wagner was supposedly an employee of Hammonton Public Schools in New Jersey, but that rumor was cut short after the school denied it.

The statement from the school read: “The woman identified on social media as ‘Phillies Karen’ is not, and has never been, an employee of the Hammonton Public Schools located in Hammonton, New Jersey. Social media and news reports indicating that she is are incorrect.”

Afterward, the school even poked fun at “Phillies Karen”: “Anybody who works for our school district, attended as a student, or lives in our community would obviously have caught the ball bare-handed in the first place, avoiding the entire situation.”

‘Phillies Karen’ has not been identified yet

Cheryl Richardson-Wagner has denied being the woman who stole the ball from Lincoln, the boy celebrating his birthday with his dad.

She uploaded a post to her Facebook page where she wrote: “Okay everyone… I’m not the crazy Phillies mom (but I sure would love to be as thin as she is and move as fast)… and I’m a Red Sox fan.”

For now, fans are still searching for the real identity of “Phillies Karen.”
