The Week 7 clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium proved to be one of the most entertaining matchups of the week. The Panthers edged out a narrow 30-27 victory over “America’s Team,” despite a strong showing from wide receiver George Pickens, who continues to impress in his first season with Dallas.

Pickens delivered another standout performance, keeping the Cowboys in contention until the very end. However, their hopes were dashed when Ryan Fitzgerald nailed a 33-yard field goal with just three seconds remaining, sealing the win for Carolina and leaving Dallas heartbroken in Charlotte.

Even in defeat, Pickens was a bright spot for the Cowboys. His performance not only highlighted his growing importance to the offense but also placed him among an exclusive group in franchise history, further cementing his emergence as one of the team’s most reliable playmakers this season.

Historic performance: George Pickens becomes part of exclusive Cowboys club

The Brian Schottenheimer era with the Dallas Cowboys has been a roller coaster so far. The team opened the 2025 season under heavy criticism after back-to-back defeats that left fans questioning the new direction. However, recent weeks have brought signs of progress, as the Cowboys remain unbeaten in their last two games, earning a gritty draw against the Pittsburgh Steelers and a crucial win over the New York Jets.

Throughout the season, the Cowboys’ offense has been anchored by quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver George Pickens, whose chemistry has become a defining feature of Schottenheimer’s system. The pair has carried the load offensively, consistently providing explosive plays when the team needed them most.

Pickens continued his impressive form, hauling in his sixth touchdown of the season against the Panthers. The score marked his fifth consecutive game with a touchdown, underscoring his growing impact and connection with Prescott.

The Cowboys highlighted Pickens’ accomplishment on their official X account, noting he became only the seventh player in franchise history to record a touchdown in five straight games. The last to achieve it was CeeDee Lamb in 2023, placing Pickens among elite company.

Focus forward: Brian Schottenheimer and George Pickens eye on their next clash

George Pickens was an absolute force at Bank of America Stadium, recording nine receptions for 167 yards and a touchdown. Despite his standout performance, the Dallas Cowboys once again fell short, as Brian Schottenheimer’s team continues to struggle defensively, an issue that has plagued them all season.

Through the first six games, the Cowboys have conceded 184 points, averaging 30 per game, a number that highlights their biggest weakness. As they prepare to face the Washington Commanders, Schottenheimer’s squad must tighten up on defense while maintaining their offensive rhythm if they hope to turn their season around.
