ESPN makes Dak Prescott prediction ahead of new NFL season

As the Cowboys gear up for the 2025 NFL campaign, ESPN analysts believe Prescott will post MVP-quality statistics, led by his dynamic arm and mobility.

They notably highlight a surge in passing efficiency and contributions from his legs, an element that often elevates dual-threat quarterbacks.

In 2023, Prescott‘s peak form earned him second place in MVP voting after a 4,516-yard, 36-TD season. While 2024 brought hamstring surgery and a dip to just eight games, ESPN’s forecast suggests a full recovery and resurgence.

The media outlet expects Prescott to finish the upcoming year with around 4,950 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, and a completion rate near 70 percent.

Why 2025 could be Prescott’s best year yet

Richer supporting cast: The acquisition of wideout George Pickens gives Dak a deep threat alongside CeeDee Lamb, creating arguably the league’s top receiver duo. Tight end Jake Ferguson and WR Jalen Tolbert have also developed, bolstering an already strong offense.

Enriched offensive line: Young talents like Tyler Booker and Tyler Guyton have reinforced Dallas’s front, promising better pass protection and enabling Prescott to maintain rhythm.

Coaching continuity: Under Brian Schottenheimer, now head coach, and coordinator Klayton Adams, the offense continues to evolve with spread formations, play-action, and shotgun-heavy looks, systems tailored to Prescott‘s dual-threat style.

Physical rejuvenation: Prescott reportedly lost 33 pounds post-surgery and has rebuilt lean muscle, returning healthier and more explosive than before.

Combined, these shifts-roster upgrades, schematic synergy, and improved mobility-generated interest in ESPN’s long-term projection.

If Prescott plays all 17 games, ESPN’s forecast places him firmly in MVP territory.

Prescott’s QB play: Arm, legs, and leadership

Beyond the stat sheet, recent seasons underline why Prescott‘s style is uniquely effective. As Jerry Jones noted, Prescott‘s ability to run saved the Cowboys in clutch moments-evident in a key 18yard rushing touchdown versus the Chargers in 2024.

Prescott himself emphasised the importance of using his legs when needed: “Running and scrambling is different… I don’t break the huddle and say, ‘I’ve got to go be Superman here,'” he said.

Coach Mike McCarthy also encouraged controlled quarterback runs, affirming Prescott‘s skill to avoid defenders and extend plays.

If Prescott delivers on ESPN’s forecast-with near-5,000 yards and 40-plus touchdowns, enhanced by 5-6 rushing scores-it’s more than a statistical triumph-it could finally erase postseason disappointments.

Whether that culminates in Dallas‘s first Super Bowl title since 1995 remains the ultimate test, but the stage is set.

Prescott now has the health, system, personnel, and ring-tank drive. Should ESPN’s expectations materialize, Dak Prescott may cement his legacy as one of the modern game’s premier quarterbacks.

A 2025 MVP-worthy season would not only validate his massive contract but mark a turning point for the Cowboys‘ long-sought championship journey.
