Legendary player Eric Allen has just got into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, putting a final end to a long and strong job in the NFL. Even though he stopped playing over 20 years ago, Allen’s work in the NFL and his financial legacy are still getting noticed.

By 2025, they think he has between $25 million and $30 million, made from playing, working on TV, and business movements.

A top career… with modest earnings

Eric Allen played 14 years in the NFL, starting in 1988 with the Philadelphia Eagles. For the next 15 years, he also played for the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders, known as one of the best cornerbacks around. He obtained a total of 54 career interceptions, returning eight of the into touchdows, achieving impressive numbers that now helped him get into the Hall of Fame.

During his time being active, Allen made about $25.5 million, sources from Spotrac say. Those earnings might look small compared to what other players get now a days, but he still stood out as a top player and earned big according to his time.

Contract highlights:

  • 1992: Three-year deal with the Eagles for $3.6 million
  • 1995: Five-year, $14 million deal with the Saints
  • 1998: Four-year, $17 million-plus deal with the Raiders

Life outside the NFL

After he left in 2001, Allen stayed close to the game through TV collaborations. He used to be on ESPN, talking about college and NFL games. Later, he joined the Pac-12 Network, using his past as a star at Arizona State University to appeal to new fans.

These jobs after playing added a lot to his money, helping Allen keep and grow his wealth day by day as he got older.

Legacy compensated by Hall of Fame entrance

Allen getting into the Hall of Fame in 2025 marks a historical big win for him. People have said for a long time he should be chosen, looking at his stats, his long time in play, and how he led like a proper leader on the field. Being honored in Canton makes sure people won’t forget him, and it also makes him more known and important in the NFL world.

Eric Allen’s path from being chosen in the second round in 1988 to Hall of Famer in 2025 is more than just a result of great sports skills, it is also about being careful with money management and being able to change. As many former players face tough times after their sports days, Allen’s story shines as a success story, both in games and outside games.
