Enzo Fernández’s agent criticizes Chelsea and leaves the player’s future up in the air

Enzo Fernandez’s entourage has reacted strongly to the two-match ban imposed by Chelsea FC following comments in which he hinted that he would like to live in Madrid in the future, thus raising alarm bells about a possible departure.

His agent, Javier Pastore, has criticised the club’s decision in an interview with The Athletic and claimed that it was all down to a misinterpretation of the player’s comments.“Enzo did not understand the situation,” Pastore explains, who insisted that the Argentine footballer accepted the decision “because he is a professional,” but without sharing the reason for the punishment. “The punishment is completely unfair… there is no reason or justification to punish him,” he said bluntly.

At no time does he say that he wants to leave Chelsea or that he prefers to live in Madrid rather than London

The origin of the controversy lies in Enzo’s words about Madrid, a city he mentioned as a place where he would like to live in the future. However, his agent was blunt: “At no time does he say that he wants to leave Chelsea or that he prefers to live in Madrid rather than London.”

Pastore also pointed directly to the role of the media. “What has been published is the responsibility of each media outlet or journalist who drew their own conclusions,” he stressed, making it clear that the player did not disrespect the club, his teammates or the fans. The agent also revealed that the club contacted him after the interview, although he considers that the decision had already been made: “When I replied, there was no reply; it seems that they had already decided to sanction him“.

This sanction suggests that the club wants to send a message

Enzo’s future up in the air

In parallel, Pastore confirmed that there were negotiations to renew the midfielder’s contract, although they were unsuccessful. “Enzo deserves much more than he is currently earning,” he explained, justifying why no agreement was reached despite the fact that the current contract still has several years to run.

On a sporting level, the agent highlighted the player’s importance to the team. “He is the leader and backbone of the team,” he said, insisting that the Argentine is committed and happy in London. However, he hinted at some tension with the club: “This sanction suggests that the club wants to send a message.”

After the World Cup, if there is no agreement, we will explore other options

Looking ahead, Pastore did not close any doors: “After the World Cup, if there is no agreement, we will explore other options.”

Finally, he wanted to play down any possible conflict with the fans: “He wants to apologise if any fan has felt offended, but he never talked about leaving the club”.
