Many analysts agree that this NFL season is among one of the most close in terms of parity. There isn’t any one team that has separated itself as the best in the league, aside from possibly the Indianapolis Colts. There are currently 10 teams with two losses, creating a jumbled playoff picture in both conferences. But the bad teams are very bad, and that includes the New York Jets.
Now the only winless team in the NFL, the Jets truly hit rock bottom in Week 7, losing at home to the Carolina Panthers in a 13-6 stinker. A pitiful offensive performance saw quarterback Justin Fields get benched and the team putting up only 220 total yards of offense. Jets fans had already had enough, but this loss at home has the potential to alienate all of them.

Outside MetLife Stadium following the game, a content creator went around asking fans of the home team what their thoughts on the game were. An adolescent stepped up to the mic and delivered a strong statement.
“I hate this team. I was born into this. I’m always a Jets fan, but I just hate this team.“
The kid looked like he was battling some emotional responses while he answered, which many found “heartbreaking“. The fan saying his fandom was inherited makes it much worse.
There are plenty of fans of struggling teams who are only fans because their parents and grandparents instilled that fandom in them from a young age. It’s not as easy as just finding a new team or not watching the bad one. If only it were that easy; the young Jets fan probably wishes it was.
