Eli Manning takes a sudden career turn: From sports analyst to film critic?

Eli Manning is widely regarded one of the best analysts in the NFL. The former New York Giants quarterback has excelled so much in this role that he’s now taking a turn that very few would have expected: film criticism, but very much in his own unique style.

It’s been seven years since Manning retired, after a 16-year career in which he left a legacy of two Super Bowls, two Super Bowl MVPs, four Pro Bowl selections, and a Walter Payton Award.

Retirement didn’t slow Eli down at all. No sooner had he hung up his cleats than the former quarterback immersed himself in the world of sportscasting, with the same success he achieved in his playing days.

Beyond his work in mainstream media, such as ESPN’s famous Manningcast, Eli has launched a remarkable career online, which he will now expand with his project, Eli at the Movies.

Eli launches his new project with great fanfare

Eli launched his new project with a fun video on his YouTube channel. “We come to this place for magic. We come to my YouTube channel to laugh, to cry, to care, because we need that, all of us,” Manning began.

The monologue, an homage to the introductions in old movie theaters, ended up revealing the heart of the new project. “Somehow, sports movies feel better in a place like this…this is Eli at the Movies.”

More than just analysis, the two-time Super Bowl champion will offer his honest reactions to sports movies in this series, especially those about football.

The intention of Eli at the Movies is to integrate his insight into football with entertainment, revealing to fans what feels real and what doesn’t in sports movies.

Eli is no stranger to the YouTube format

With Eli at The Movies, Manning continues his series exploring the lore and history of football, such as ESPN+’s Eli’s Places, where he looked at the stories and culture of college football beyond the field.

Just in March 2025, Eli launched his YouTube channel, where he shares commentary on current football events and entertaining glimpses into his relationships with his brothers and other NFL stars.

Now, his nearly 15,000 subscribers can enjoy this new project and get a look at all-time sports classics through the perspective of one of the greatest players in history.
