The highly anticipated exhibition fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, scheduled for November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, has been officially canceled, according to Most Valuable Promotions. The fight promised to be one of the most high-profile of the year with a deal worth approximately $40 million and an exclusive Netflix broadcast
The fight was canceled after Gervonta was accused by his ex-partner of aggravated assault, kidnapping and causing emotional distress so Jake Paul’s promoter quickly set about finding a new opponent because they intend for the American to have a fight before the end of the year, so Edgar Berlanga did not hesitate to raise his hand and launch a direct challenge.
Edgar Berlanga offers himself as Gervonta Davis’ replacement: “Jake, pick up the phone”
With the cancellation of the fight and the lack of an opponent for Jake Paul, Edgar Berlanga did not waste time and put himself forward as the replacement for Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis through his X account, where the Puerto Rican published a video challenging the American:
Hey, Jake. Answer the phone. I’ve been calling you. Let’s get the fight done. Stop playing.
Edgar Berlanga has a record of 23 wins and two losses, 18 by KO, and is looking to redeem himself after his recent stumbles and secure a multi-million dollar purse of $40 million that was estimated for Gervonta:

Will Jake Paul accept Edgar Berlanga’s challenge for a fight?
Berlanga’s public challenge set social media ablaze as to whether the fight was possible or would remain a simple challenge, as there has been no response from the American. However, sources close to Jake Paul mention that he will probably lean towards another fighter, all because of Berlanga’s recent performances in the ring, that his popularity is on the decline and the fact that he is in negotiations for a fight in 2026 against Jose Armando Resendiz, current interim WBA champion.
Edgar Berlanga is coming off a fifth-round TKO loss to Hamzah Sheeraz in July 2025, as well as a unanimous decision loss to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in 2024, so Jake Paul would be looking at other opponents such as Ryan Garcia, Nate Diaz, Andre Ward, Terence Crawford and Francis Ngannou, with whom he has already had talks.
