Eddie Hearn warns Terence Crawford about what might happen against Canelo Alvarez

Expectations for the showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford continue to grow, but not everyone in the boxing world is convinced it’s a good idea for the American

One of the most critical has been the renowned promoter Eddie Hearn, who has issued a clear warning: Crawford could be underestimating the challenge that Canelo represents.

In a recent interview, Hearn questioned not only Crawford’s preparation for a fight of that magnitude, but also the quality of his record as a professional boxer.

Is Crawford ready for an opponent like Canelo?

Terence Crawford is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, especially after his dominant victory over Errol Spence Jr. However, Hearn believes that making the leap to face Canelo, a bigger, stronger and more experienced boxer in multiple divisions; could be a strategic mistake.

Crawford is an incredible fighter, but he has never faced anyone like Canelo. You can’t just move up in weight and expect your natural talent to be enough. Canelo is a monster at 168 pounds

Hearn criticizes Crawford’s record

Beyond the respect he has for him as an athlete, Hearn also questioned the quality of the path taken by Crawford so far. According to the British promoter, many of the rivals the American has faced are not up to the level of those Canelo has had to overcome.

When you look at Crawford’s resume, there are big names, but it doesn’t compare to Canelo’s. This guy has fought Gennady Golovkin, Dmitry Bivol, Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders… and has come through in most of those wars

Eddie Hearn

A physical difference that cannot be ignored

One of the most important points that Hearn highlighted is the size difference between the two fighters. Crawford has shone in lighter divisions, while Canelo has demonstrated his power at super middleweight and even light heavyweight.

Crawford would have to move up to 168 pounds for this fight. That’s a huge jump. And while he’s technically brilliant, the physical difference could be telling

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: Is a fight inevitable?

Despite the warnings, interest in seeing Canelo and Crawford go head-to-head continues to grow. Both are undisputed champions in their respective divisions, and the fight between them looks to be historic. However, Hearn insists that Crawford should think twice before stepping into the ring.

If he does, it will be for legacy, not logic

Eddie Hearn

Canelo, the rival everyone wants… but few can beat

Canelo Alvarez has been criticized at times for his choice of opponents, but his track record speaks for itself. He has faced the best in each division and has come out victorious in most cases. For Hearn, this makes him a challenge not to be taken lightly.

Canelo is a complete fighter, with power, experience and an underrated defense. He’s not just a puncher, he’s a strategist

Eddie Hearn

Will it be worth the risk for Crawford?

The fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez will be an event of epic proportions, but it also represents a huge risk for the American. Eddie Hearn has made it clear that while he respects Crawford’s talent, he believes that underestimating Canelo could cost him dearly.

Now, the decision is in Crawford’s hands, will he listen to Hearn’s warnings for the fight against Canelo?
