Safe to say Philadelphia Eagles fans are ready for Friday’s Super Bowl parade after some were spotted cooking a pig dressed up to depict Patrick Mahomes.
While players, coaching staff and fans will welcome their heroes as they travel around the city, some fans may have taken the celebrations a little too far.
Images on social media show the pig wearing an afro, with the No.15 carved into the skin as fans around it can be seen smiling.
It comes after the Eagles denied the Chiefs from becoming the first NFL team to win three Super Bowls in a row thanks to a 40-22 win in New Orleans on Sunday.
The Eagles came up short against the Chiefs just two years ago, but this time there was no denying Philadelphia as Mahomes struggled to get anything going.
Philadelphia’s defensive line of Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis caused fits for the Chiefs offensive line all game, while Jalen Hurts scored three touchdowns and took home Super Bowl MVP honors.
Not everyone is impressed with Philly fans
While the Eagles fans tailgating before the parade were clearly excited for the occasions, as pictures on social media showed them cooking the pig in the early hours of the morning, not everyone was pleased with the gesture online.
“Very strange behavior, not really needed,” wrote one fan, while another added: “This isn’t even funny man. Mahomes is a real person.”
Another fan wrote: “Yo that’s just messed up. I get the eagles hype, but disrespecting the champ like that? not a good look. let’s keep the trash talk on the field, fam. this ain’t it.”
It isn’t the first time Eagles fans have caused a stir online in recent weeks, as videos of fans fighting amongst themselves have been uploaded after their playoff wins in the run up to the Super Bowl.
There were even videos of fans fighting in New Orleans just hours after the Eagles claimed their second ever Super Bowl.
