Dustin May reveals how cruel the Dodgers were before sending him to the Boston Red Sox

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dustin May, who was recently traded to the Boston Red Sox, has shared details about how he experienced his departure from the team that saw him make his MLB debut

In an interview, May confessed that the process was emotionally complex and that he felt pressured by the organization before the change was finalized.

An unexpected exit

May, who was with the Dodgers from 2016 and was part of the championship team in 2020, said he did not expect to be traded this year. “I felt a little bit pressured to be traded,” he said, noting that internal competition and the return of several injured pitchers relegated him to an uncertain role in the bullpen.

The lack of clarity about his future with the team was one of the factors that led him to accept the change, although not without mixed feelings.

The internal competition in the Dodgers

The Dodgers pitching staff has historically been one of the deepest in MLB. With several pitchers ready to return from injury, May faced the possibility of losing prominence in the rotation. Although his ERA on the season was 4.85, his talent and potential are still recognized throughout the league.

The pressure to stay on the active roster and uncertainty over his role in the postseason were key factors in his departure.

New era for the Boston Red Sox

Despite how difficult it was to leave Los Angeles, May was enthusiastic about his arrival in Boston

I couldn’t be more excited. It’s a pleasure to be here and be part of this

In Boston, he hopes to have a more defined role in the rotation and contribute to the goal of reaching the playoffs.

The Red Sox are confident that May can regain his best form and become a key piece for the team in the American League.

Balance of his time with the Dodgers

During his time in Los Angeles, Dustin May made his mark with a 3.71 ERA and postseason highlights. He was part of the team that won the World Series in 2020 and established himself as one of the most promising young arms.

His departure was not due to a lack of talent, but rather strategic decisions by the team, who opted to reinforce other areas and free up space in their rotation.

Communication with the organisation

Despite his statements about the pressure, May acknowledged that communication with the Dodgers was respectful

Communication was excellent. If things fitted well for both sides, then we could make it work

This suggests that, although the process was difficult, it was handled professionally.

A new beginning with a taste of redemption

Dustin May begins a new chapter in his career with the Boston Red Sox, leaving behind a departure that, although painful, could open up new opportunities for him. His testimony reveals the tensions players experience amid strategic decisions, and how talent does not always guarantee stability.

Now, May will look to prove his worth in Boston and write a new chapter in his Major League career.
