The NBA 2025 All-Star weekend is well on its way in the Bay Area as San Francisco and Oakland open their arms to the best basketball in the world.

The All-Star Celebrity Game was held at former Oracle Arena on Friday night. The teams were coached by a pair of Bay Area legends and all-time greats in their sports – Jerry Rice, former wide receiver of the San Francisco 49ers, and Barry Bonds, legendary slugger for the San Francisco Giants.

Team Bonds took the victory, 66-55, pulling away in the second half after a defensive struggle. The MVP was awarded to Rome Flynn, the Emmy-winning actor (“The Bold And The Beautiful“, “How To Get Away With Murder“), who recorde 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists on 26 minutes of playing time.

Druski can’t believe he wasn’t the MVP

Comedian Druski looked completely shocked when he found out that he didn’t get the MVP. To be fair, his numbers with Team Rice were not impressive at all. He played 21 minutes and he only got 4 points and one rebound. He was only 1-4 from three point range, so he can’t make a case for him winning the award.

As a matter of fact, the highlight for Team Rice was Shelby McEwen, a silver medalist in the high jump for Team USA at the 2024 Olympics. He had a pair of dunks, one of them a wind-up that could’ve ranked in tonight’s dunk contest.

Otherwise, Rome Flynn showed impressive basketball moves, a solid dribble game and a jumper, making one shot from 35 feet near the top of the key, which could help understand why he got the MVP.

The busiest night of the All-Star game

Saturday is the busiest night of All-Star Weekend because it will feature three events: the Skills Challenge, the 3-point Contest and the Slam Dunk. Two-time defending champion Mac McClung of the Orlando Magic will face Matas Buzelis of the Chicago Bulls,Stephon Castle of the San Antonio Spurs and Andre Jackson Jr. of the Milwaukee Bucks.

McClung, who plays for the Osceola Magic in the NBA G League, will be looking to become the first player since the event’s inception in 1984 to three-peat. Nate Robinson, who came out on top in 2006, 2009 and 2010, is the only player to win the dunk contest more than twice.

His impressive dunks will be the highlight of the night and could cement his legacy as one of the best to ever participate in the very flashy event. The former Texas Tech Red Raider and Georgetown Bulldog promised something very special for the fans at Chase Center in San Francisco.
