Drew Allar, Penn State star, left a message for the Cleveland Browns and especially for Shedeur Sanders

Although Cleveland Browns fans and the organization itself are excited about Shedeur Sanders’ preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers, it’s almost certain that the franchise will be in the quarterback market next offseason, whether in free agency or the Draft.

There’s no doubt there will be plenty of talent in the Draft. The top prospect is Arch Manning, although his grandfather, Archie, stated that his grandson will return to the Longhorns to play in 2026 in the NCAA and complete his full college career. This means that Peyton and Eli’s nephew might be ruled out, at least for next year.

The Browns currently have quite a crowd at the quarterback position – six on the roster, including Deshaun Watson and Tyler Huntley. So, unless one of the rookies, Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders, has standout moments, the team will be looking for a quarterback in the next Draft.

Drew Allar, Penn State star, is one of the top candidates

The Cleveland Browns have great capital to experiment with in 2026, remembering that they hold two first-round Draft picks – their own and the one they acquired in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who got Travis Hunter in exchange for their first-round pick next year. So the Browns have capital to work with.

Drew Allar had a brilliant 2024 season with 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and a 153.5 passer rating. In an interview, he was asked about the possibility of being selected by the Browns, and his family has interesting ties to the team.

“That would definitely be special. My dad had season tickets growing up. They’ve been passed down since my great grandfather,” Drew Allar said on the Ross Tucker podcast.

So we’ll have to wait and see how the Shedeur Sanders case turns out, because if he plays at the level he did against the Panthers, the Draft capital might be better used to give him weapons – but this story still has many chapters ahead.
