Draymond Green stays unfazed as Giannis trade buzz puts Warriors under the spotlight

Draymond Green has claimed he is not concerned about trade speculation, even as reports linking the Golden State Warriors to Giannis Antetokounmpo have pushed nearly the entire roster into uncertainty.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, Green‘s response offered a clear reminder of how quickly stability can disappear when a superstar becomes available.

According to reporting from Anthony Slater, Golden State‘s interest in Antetokounmpo has intensified. Within that context, no Warrior other than Stephen Curry is considered untouchable.

That includes Green, a central figure in the franchise’s dynasty who has spent all 14 seasons of his career in Golden State.

Green is earning $25.8 million this season and holds a player option for the final year of his contract next year. His salary would likely be required to help match Antetokounmpo‘s $54.1 million figure in any blockbuster deal, and reports have described him as “available for the right package.”

It is unfamiliar territory for a player so closely tied to the Warriors‘ identity, but Green met the moment with composure when asked about it on Friday.

“I’ve been here for 14 years. I have no reason to sit and worry about leaving,” Green said. “But if I’m traded, that’s part of the business. So it is what it is.

“I ain’t losing no sleep though. I slept great last night.”

Deadline season spares no one

Green‘s calm response stands in contrast to the reality many players face at this point in the calendar. At 35, he is no longer in his prime, even though he continues to make winning contributions, particularly on defence and as an emotional leader.

The Warriors have not offered him an extension, and the lack of long-term clarity has only added to the speculation surrounding his future.

Despite the noise, Green said he has not reached out to the front office to seek reassurance or direction. His approach, he explained, remains unchanged.

“I’ll be the same as I always am. My phone is always on. I’m always willing to collaborate in any way I can,” he added.
