Draymond Green emerges as the key piece in a massive potential trade between the Warriors and Bucks centered on Giannis Antetokounmpo

Just one day before suffering a right calf strain injury, Giannis Antetokounmpo deleted nearly all social media content related to the Milwaukee Bucks. There was also talk of a meeting with the Bucks’ front office to discuss whether continuing with the team was best for him and the future of the franchise. The outlook for the Bucks without Giannis is bleak, as he remains out for tonight’s game against the Celtics.

Milwaukee is just 10-15 this season after losing eight of its last 10 games, and the team has lost the last seven games that Antetokounmpo has missed. The two-time MVP could potentially miss the rest of December, putting Milwaukee in a tough spot to contend for a playoff spot in the East.

Warriors Willing to Swap Green for Giannis

Without Giannis, the Bucks essentially have zero hope of competing, which is why any potential trade for him must be significant. We are talking about a future Hall of Famer, a two-time MVP who has finished in the top five of MVP voting for seven consecutive seasons.

One of the principal suitors is the Golden State Warriors. With Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, they possess pure veteran leadership when the playoffs arrive. While Stephen Curry will never leave the Bay Area, reports indicate the Warriors are reportedly willing to trade Draymond Green for Giannis.

Green would serve as an attractive trade chip, which, when combined with players like Jonathan Kuminga and possibly another player, plus some first-round picks, would make the trade look fair. The Warriors would instantly become a superpower in the complicated Western Conference and undoubtedly the greatest rival to the Thunder, who are currently having the best start in NBA history. For the Bucks, a 35-year-old Green would help them survive this season, but he is not the answer for the future; Kuminga, however, might be.

Bucks Failed to Consistently Support Their Superstar

Beyond the 2021 championship, where he led the team to a phenomenal 50-point closeout game, Giannis has been fundamental to the team’s success. Yet, the front office has consistently failed to surround him with the right talent. They let go of key players like Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton and brought in Damian Lillard, who, sadly, has was a failed two-year project due to recurrent injuries.

When his playing time is over, Giannis will undoubtedly be recognized as one of the best players to ever step onto an NBA court, but the question remains whether he finishes his career in Milwaukee.
