Drake held nothing back in Australia and delivered a subtle message to Serena Williams and SZA ahead of their Super Bowl performance

While performing in Melbourne, Australia, as part of his “Anita Max Win” tour, Drake didn’t hold back, taking a few jabs at his exes during his set at the Rod Laver Arena.

The rapper got a little spicy on stage, before making clear his position to the crowd.

“If you’re doing better than your ex, turn up to this song!” before launching into his track, “You Broke My Heart.” Drake’s message seemed clear – some past flames have played him, but he’s clearly doing just fine now.

Kendrick Lamar used Drake’s ex in his Super Bowl act

Coincidentally, just hours later, two of those exes – Serena Williams and SZA – were making headlines at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, with a surprise appearance alongside Kendrick Lamar, Drake’s longtime rival.

Serena, who was involved with Drake from 2011 to 2015, showed up during Lamar’s performance, dancing to “Not Like Us” – a song many fans believe is a subtle diss toward the rapper.

But it didn’t stop there. Kendrick Lamar also brought SZA on stage, where they performed “Luther” and “All the Stars.” Both women looked as if they were having the time of their lives, seemingly unaffected by Drake’s onstage remarks.

It’s clear that Serena and SZA are aligning themselves with Kendrick, making it a triple-threat showdown. With his exes in the spotlight and showing their loyalty to his rival, don’t be surprised if Drake has more to say in future tracks. This is one rivalry that’s far from over.

The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake traces back to 2013, when tensions first flared between the two rap giants. It all began when Kendrick Lamar released his now-iconic verse on “Control,” a track that boldly called out several high-profile rappers, including Drake. Lamar’s declaration of being the “King of New York” and challenging his peers sparked a firestorm of reactions, and many interpreted his verse as a direct shot at Drake, who was riding high on his own success at the time.

In the years that followed, both artists exchanged subtle jabs in interviews and through their music. Drake fired back with lyrics aimed at Lamar, including on tracks like “The Ride” and “5 AM in Toronto.” Despite this ongoing rivalry, both rappers have largely kept their differences out of the public eye, leaving fans to speculate about the true depth of their beef. The tension remains one of rap’s most fascinating rivalries.
