Does George Kittle regret viral Taylor Swift moment? San Francisco 49ers star reveals thoughts

George Kittle may be known for his dominance on the football field, but he recently made headlines for a very different reason-his enthusiastic duet with Taylor Swift at Tight End University. But does the San Francisco 49ers star regret fraternizing with the enemy?

The 49ers’ tight end was spotted singing ‘Love Story’ alongside the Grammy-winning artist, a moment now etched into NFL lore ahead of the 2025/26 NFL season as her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, watched on.

That’s despite the fact that Swift’s Kelce helped lead to the Chiefs to Super Bowl glory over Kittle’s49ers in both 2021 and 2023, so does he regret his karaoke moment with the Eras Tour sensation?

“That was a fun one,” Kittle said to Matt Maiocco. “I was in the process of handing [my wife] Claire and Taylor drinks for the night, and I was like, ‘I just gotta tell you that Love Story is definitely my favorite Taylor Swift song.’

“And as I was telling her, it came on the speakers, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to miss this opportunity.’

“You don’t get to sing Love Story with Taylor Swift very often. It was just an absolute riot and something I’ll probably remember forever.”

The brief yet unforgettable performance quickly went viral, capturing the attention of both Swifties and NFL fans as Kittle’s uninhibited energy and genuine excitement reminded many of the human side of professional athletes.

Have the San Francisco 49ers won the offseason in the NFC West?

While Kittle’s viral moment offered fans a rare glimpse of levity, the 49ers have been dealing with serious questions regarding their roster and Super Bowl viability heading into the 2025 season, as they target another deep postseason run.

Initially criticized for a lack of bold moves in free agency, San Francisco’s front office eventually made a key addition by bringing back Robert Saleh, their former defensive coordinator.

After a difficult 6-11 campaign in 2024/25 and the loss of nine starters, expectations were low but with Saleh’s experience and the return of Christian McCaffrey, things might be looking up at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

ESPN’s Seth Walder said of Saleh, “Though his head coaching tenure with the Jets was shaky, his defenses ranked in the top five in expected points added per play in 2022, 2023, and the first five weeks of 2024, before he was fired.”

However, the team sits on over $45 million in unused cap space, raising questions about whether the front office truly did enough to contend with aggressive division rivals like the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals, as well as the Seattle Seahawks.

The latter traded for Sam Darnold at quarterback, who produced 4319 passing yards for 35 touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings last season; leading the team to a 14-3 record and second in the NFC North.
