Angel Reese watched from the bench and at home as the Chicago Sky lost for the eighth consecutive time to the Phoenix Mercury, 67-83, at Wintrust Arena.

Due to her back injury, the Sky forward has had to sit out four of the last five games. However, the two-time All-Star wasn’t the only one watching the game from the stands.

A very special fan in the stands

Grammy winner Doechii showed up at the WNBA game and surprised her fans, who weren’t expecting to see her there.

Dressed in an oversized gray suit and yellow Nike sneakers with green and red details, the singer completed her look with sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, and her long braids loose.

Of course, her presence did not go unnoticed, and the WNBA’s official X account welcomed her and announced her presence: “DOECHII. The Swamp Princess is courtside to watch PHX vs CHI,” they wrote alongside two photos of the artist.

Although it is unknown why Doechii attended the game, it is believed that she may have hoped to see Sky and fashion icon Angel Reese in action, but unfortunately for her, Reese did not play. In fact, the last time she played was on July 29 against the Washington Mystics.

On this occasion, Mercury shone thanks to Kahleah Copper, who scored 25 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Meanwhile, for the Sky, Elizabeth Williams led the team with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and two assists. In addition, after missing time with an ankle injury, Hailey Van Lith returned to the court and in 17 minutes, added five points and three assists.

Now, Chicago Sky will fight for a much-needed victory against the Washington Mystics and end their losing streak on Tuesday, August 5, at home at Wintrust Arena.

Meanwhile, Doechii announced her “Live from the Swamp” tour on Monday, August 4. It will begin on October 14 in Chicago, Illinois, where the game took place. Will Reese go see her this time?
