Dodgers confirm starts for stars Shohei Ohtani and Clayton Kershaw in rotation

According to Los Angeles Times journalist Jack Harris, manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Shohei Ohtani will start next Monday at home. This means that the Japanese will not see action against the Baltimore Orioles in the interleague series, but he will have the opportunity to shine in front of the Los Angeles fans.

Ohtani, who missed his previous start due to physical discomfort, was used solely as a designated hitter. Roberts explained that it was not worth the risk, but now everything points to the two-time MVP returning to pitching without restrictions.

Kershaw will start Sunday on regular rest

Clayton Kershaw will take the mound again on Sunday with only four days’ rest, a clear sign that his recovery is on track. The left-hander pitched four innings in his last outing in Pittsburgh, where he allowed four hits and struck out three batters. In total, he pitched five innings in the series.

Kershaw’s return is encouraging news for the Dodgers, who are looking to maintain stability in their rotation heading into the final stretch of the season. His experience and control in pressure situations are key factors for the Los Angeles team.

Controversy with Emmet Sheehan in loss to Pirates

In the midst of this good news, the Dodgers also experienced a controversial episode in the 3-0 loss to Pittsburgh. Emmet Sheehan was accused by fans and media of intentionally keeping the first MLB ball of rookie Cam Devanney.

The incident was pointed out by analyst Ben Verlander, who detailed that Sheehan received a new ball from the umpire and apparently changed it in his glove. However, the pitcher denied any wrongdoing and told reporter Kristen Watson that it was a misunderstanding. He even claimed that he plans to apologize personally to Devanney.

With the reincorporation of Ohtani and Kershaw, the Dodgers strengthen a rotation that seeks balance between youth and experience. If both manage to stay healthy, Dave Roberts’ team will have a key boost in their fight to stay at the top of the National League.
