Dmitry Bivol has no doubt that Terence Crawford can beat Canelo Alvarez: “He’s capable of beating him”

While his future challenge remains unknown, Dmitry Bivol, the undisputed light heavyweight champion, spoke in an interview with Ring Magazine and made a big confession about the big fight coming up in September, Canelo vs. Crawford.

The fight is not official yet, as the Mexican must first beat William Scull on May 3rd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which would be Canelo‘s first fight outside of the United States and Mexico.

The goal is for the Guadalajara native to win the super middleweight title and put it on the line against the American.

“My first reaction was Crawford’s size. Is it okay for him to move up two divisions?” were Bivol‘s words to Ring Magazine in the face of ‘Bud‘s’ tough challenge.

However, his doubts quickly changed when he met him and Bivol was totally surprised:

“He’s big” and has very good skills. He’s able to win this fight. He has to get used to the power and the pressure of 168 pounds, because it’s a big difference compared to 154 and 147 pounds. Maybe he’ll get used to it and feel better. He’s capable of it,” admitted Dmitry Bivol, who beat Canelo a few years ago.

This is not the first time that Bivol has given advice to Crawford

The Russian boxer makes no secret of the fact that Terence Crawford is one of his favorite boxers and whenever he has the opportunity to talk about him, he ends up praising him, even more so now that he is facing an old acquaintance that he has already defeated.

“He has to do his job and he is doing it very well. He changes some things, movements, and he keeps his distance, he doesn’t need to exchange punches, so of course he could win,” Bivol said a few months ago with Fight Hub TV.

Now it’s just a matter of waiting to see what happens on May 3rd in Riyadh. If Canelo beats Scull, the fight with Crawford will certainly be official. We are all very excited to see how ‘Bud‘ will perform.

Because when he moved up to 154, he fought Israil Madrimov and won, but boy, did he struggle and we saw a different Crawford, we’ll see how he adapts now that he’s turning 38.
